After a genuine review of the cordless electric GTech Falcon lawn mower?
You’re in the right place.
In this post I reveal what users really think to the GTech lawnmower and share some surprising info you should know.
2018 Update: I have added some handy “how to” videos at the bottom of this page, along with the answers to some customer FAQs.
Top Tip: GTech are currently offering a 100% money back guarantee if you buy direct from them.
Meaning no risk to you if you don’t like their product. I recommend going direct, rather than through a re-seller.
Let’s dive in and find out more…
This GTech Mower is called the Falcon. With a name like that, they clearly have their sights set on flying high….But does the GTech Lawnmower live up to the name?
2018 Update: GTech are continuing to sell this lawn mower due to its performance, reliability and how many customers love it.
Here are some of the key benefits:
- Precision carbon steel blades
- 43cm cutting width
Easy to Use
- From full, cuts a garden twice
- Folding handle for compact storage
- British company, British made
- Trusted and reputable seller
- Powerful 36V Lithium-ion battery
- 40 min run time, 5 hour charge time
Here’s the thing…
To put it simply, GTech are nailing the electric power tools market at the moment. They’ve created a full range of tools which are all electric and cordless, including the HT20 hedge trimmer, the ST20 Grass trimmer and the HT05-Plus hedge trimmer.
2018 Update: The impressive G Tech garden tool range continues to deliver great customer satisfaction and they’ve even ventured into being a competitor to Dyson in the vacuum cleaner department…
3 Reasons to Like this Cordless Mower
Easy to Use & Adjustable
Large wheels make maneuvering this GTech lawn mower easy. With a simple press of a button you are ready to mow.
Adjust the cutting height in 1cm increments from 3cm to 8cm in a few seconds with the side lever.
It’s light and suitable for almost anyone, from the young to the old.
Compact & Fast Charging
A very lightweight and efficient build make the GTech easy to put in the shed with the added bonus of a folding handle which makes it easy to store. A 5 hour charge time means it’ll be ready to use again when you need it.
Note: The mower is almost 17kg, so not ideal for weaker or elderly people who need to lift it around a lot. It’s totally fine for 99% of people to push though.
Wide Cut Width & Large Grass Box
The cleverly thought out design allows you to cut almost the full width of the mower, some 430mm (43cm) wide. The GTech Falcon cordless mower also comes equipped with a sufficiently large, 40 litre grass collection box so you won’t have to empty every 2 lengths of the garden.
Note: The mower is not self-propelled, you have to push it.
2018 Update: With over 3,500 reviews and an average rating of 4.7 out of 5, the Falcon gets rave reviews from customers which is not surprising as all the other GTech products have similarly high ratings.
The Best Time to Buy…
If you’re looking for a good deal, a good time to buy is now.
Often GTech run deals to entice users to purchase. This gets their sales up and you get a saving.
I’d recommend checking out the GTech site to see if they have any offers on. If they do, and you feel this mower is for you, it’s worth purchasing now before the prices go back to normal.
What are users saying…?
Users that we have spoken to comment on how good the battery life is and they love that it automatically stops charging when the battery is full. Great energy saving feature.
They also love the finish of the cut that it delivers and how easy it is to switch between different cutting heights in seconds.
Some customers experienced delivery issues, such as damage in transit or missed the customer being home. When sending out thousands of units, there is a chance this might happen. But only in less than 1% of cases.
Note: GTech have an excellent reputation for good customer service and will help you replace any faulty products or resolve delivery issues.
Some would prefer there to be an option for a roller in the back to make nice, crisp lines in the lawn. This would add a huge amount of weight to the unit and make it unsuitable for the majority of users. You can purchase a lawn roller on Amazon for as little as £50.
Additionally, this might not be ideal if you are on the shorter side (5 ft 1) as one customer mentions the handle was a little high for her.
Some customers did have to call GTech and were impressed with their customer service. Here is what one user thought:
- Lightweight, easy to use & delivers a great cut
- Lasts for up to 40 mins on a 5 hour charge
- Adjustable height from 3cm to 8cm
- Cuts neatly right up to the edge of the garden
- Compact storage with foldable handle
- Would require multiple charges (or additional battery) for very large gardens

Frequently Asked Questions
Below you will find some of the most commonly asked questions regarding this GTech lawn mower.
Q: How much weight will the grass box hold?
A: Up to 10kg
Q: My GTech mower won’t start
A: Ensure the upper handle is fully extended. There will be an audible click when extended properly. Make sure the battery is charged and shows green LEDs lights when you press the button. Double check that your activation key is inserted properly. You can contact GTech directly to obtain a spare if you have lost it. Make sure you are starting the mower in the correct order. First, press the green starter release button followed by pulling the activation lever. If you continue to have issues, contact GTech directly.
Q: Is the battery covered by the warranty?
A: Yes, for 2 years.
Q: Why is my charger LED flashing red?
A: The battery might be overheated. Allow to cool. Make sure you have not left it in direct sunlight. If still flashing after the unit is cool, there could be a battery fault. Call GTech support directly for help.
Q: Is the mower self-propelled or do I have to push it manually?
A: You have to push it manually. The GTech lawn mower is not self-propelled.
Q: My mower is hard to push, what can I do?
A: Check all the moving parts, such as the wheels. Remove the battery and lift up the mower and attempt to spin the wheels. There might be something stuck or jammed. Check the cutting level to ensure it’s not set too low and hitting against the ground, especially on uneven grass. The grass could be too wet and/or thick for the setting you have it on. Try increasing the cut length and going over it twice.
Q: How long does it take to fully charge the battery?
A: Around 5 hours. The LED lights will flash while charging until all 4 are lit. Then they will turn off and the charger LED will flash. This may take up to 5 hours depending on how much charge was already left in the battery.
Q: Where can I get a GTech cordless mower spare battery?
A: Directly from GTech. Click here to see their full range of mower spares.
