When you first receive the Vax Platinum Power Max, it needs slight assembly before you start using it. The instruction manual is pretty clear with outlined steps in detail.

Once you assemble it, it’s slightly bigger than your average upright vacuum cleaner, at 111cm in height and 39cm in width.

But still, it’s quite easy to move around and clean your carpets with, thanks to the clever design and two water compartments, which I’ll talk about more later. For now, let’s see the basics of how this carpet cleaner works.

How it Works?

Vax Platinum Power Max cleans by distributing a cleaning solution into your carpet fibres and sucks out all the dirty residue with strong suction.

You put the cleaning solution and warm water in the two chambers at the top, and then use one of the three modes to go over your carpets: quick clean, deep clean, and rinse.

Quick clean is best suited for the majority of cleaning jobs, while deep clean is for especially dirty carpets. The rinse function, on the other hand, is if you want to try and get out any left over residue or cleaning solution.

The wastewater is then collected into a separate chamber at the bottom, which is very easy to remove and empty out.

The way the Vax Platinum Power Max is able to deliver incredible carpet cleaning performance is all thanks to the 7 SpinScrub bristles located right behind the XL brush bar.

All seven brushes rotate in different directions, essentially lifting and removing all dirt from your carpets, no matter how deep it’s embedded.

You can notice straight away with the first few passes that the dirty water tank turns brown immediately.

• Pre-treatment wand – if you have tougher stains on your carpet, you can use this tool to spray a strong jet of cleaning solution directly onto the stain.
• Spin scrub tool – this acts as sort of a mini version of the main floor head, spraying and vacuuming stains at the same time. It attaches to the stretch hose and can be used for cleaning individual stains.

The Vax Platinum Power Max carpet cleaner has two separate water tanks – one for the clean warm water, and one for the wastewater that comes out of the carpet.

They’re designed specifically to avoid the mix-up of clean with dirty water, so you always spray your carpets with fresh water and cleaning solution.

Both tanks are very easy to remove for easy filling or emptying out.

Quick drying

Carpet can dry in one hour if not soaked too much

Vax promises that your carpets will be left dry in an hour after cleaning, but that mainly depends on the temperature.

In summer, this is easily achievable, but in the colder months, it can take somewhere around 2 hours.

Top Tip: If you want faster drying turn on the heating

This could be an issue if you live in a smaller place, but for me personally, its excellent performance makes it worth it, especially when compared to taking your carpets to a cleaning service every month.
