Flymo have been around for years and are known for their lower cost lawn mowers, but that doesn’t mean they are not very good. If you buy a cheaper mower you can’t expect it to perform as well as a top of the range one. Let’s take a look in more detail at this offering from Flymo, in the Flymo Easimo.
Quality– 32cm cutting width for smaller gardens – Compact with folding arms for storage | Usability– Lightweight and very easy to maneuvre – 3 x adjustable cutting heights, 20-60mm | ||
Robustness– Long lasting metal blade and plastic covers – 29 litre grass box is sufficient | Performance– Power to weight ratio is good – Narrow wheels allow close to edge cutting |
Coming in at under £60 for a piece of kit that will last you years, this Flymo should be given an award! It’s lightweight body makes moving it around very easy and ideally suited to small gardens with lots of nooks and crannies to get into. Not only that but it has some pretty decent features. Remember, this is a low budget option for a mower so you can’t expect too much.

- Cuts from 20 to 60mm
- 29 litre cutting collection box
What Users Say
The majority of users who have purchased this Flymo mower really appreciate its simplicity. It can be put together in less than 5 minutes and requires no tools to do so. It folds away very nicely meaning that you can fit it in a utility room or small shed without losing too much space.
The adjustable height settings are reported to give good options in terms of how long you want your grass and even on the low settings people are finding that it deals with dense areas of grass and rough ground without a problem, given that the wheels and narrow wheel base allow it to stay about the ground easily.
Some people report that the blade can be buckled easily when hitting large stones or covers in the garden. This is likely to happen with any mower if you hit the wrong kind of object so be careful to clear the lawn first. It’s also reported that some people aren’t happy with how efficient the mower is at collecting all of the grass clippings into the grass box.
Advantages
- Compact, lightweight and easy to assemble
- Ideally suited for smaller gardens and where storage might be an issue
- Easy to push around because it weighs only 8kg
Disadvantages
- It’s a low cost mower so the build quality is not going to be amazing
What We Say
It’s possible to get a range of mowers, from very cheap to very expensive. This one falls in at about the cheapest you can get, there are even manual lawn mowers that cost more than this one! As a result it’s hard to really criticse it too harshly because it has been designed to fill a gap in the market for someone who wants a cheap mower. If you buy cheap you may have to buy twice, as the saying goes. I’m not saying that this is a poor mower but you get what you pay for.
On the positive side it’s compact, lightweight and will do an efficient job of cutting your lawn. You have to take it for what it is. A budget mower, for less than £60, that will probably last you a few years if you are careful with it. It’s not going to take a bashing from large stones, tree branches and metal drain covers. It will break. However, treat it well and use it on a small area of debris free grass and it will last you a long time.
Flymo have been around for years and know how to make a lawn mower so I’m sure that their years of expertise in this industry have been used to build this model. Some people will complain about it but I think their expectations were wrong when they bought a cheap mower.
We think this is a great little mower for someone with limited space to store a large mower, doesn’t have much grass to cut but wants to keep it looking tidy for a little money. It won’t disappoint on doing a good job of cutting your garden if you treat it right.
Is it Right for you?
For those in need of a cheap, easy to assemble, easy to use, quiet mower that you can keep in your small utility room this is the one for you. It’s ideal for that small front lawn or patch of grass that you need to cut to keep the place looking tidy but you don’t have a large enough area to justify the expense of a larger, more feature packed mower and stripes in the lawn are really not important.
If you want something a little more sturdy then you are going to have to pay a little more money, so check out the other electric mowers we have reviewed or maybe change to a petrol or cordless mower.
