How to Buy the Best Cordless Lawn Mower
In the not too distant past, electric lawn mowers were useless. Under powered, poor cut quality and flimsy
But times have changed…
And so has the technology. Just like when you upgraded to a lithium-ion battery in your mobile phone, the same is now applicable to cordless electric mower batteries.
Cordless is a great idea, too, as there are no annoying cables to work around or limit you to a certain distance. They are quiet, very maneuverable, cheap to run and green.
However, there is one slight drawback…They don’t last all that long. A good one will last just around 45 minutes so if you don’t have a large lawn you are OK.
With that in mind, here is my advice on how to select the best one for you:
1. Long lasting…
Depending on how large your lawn is the mower needs to last long enough. In 45 minutes you can expect to cover around 150 square metres. No one likes a half finished job, so make sure you have enough juice to finish the mowing in one go.
Top Tip: Most companies sell spare batteries so you can easily have two and interchange them if you’ve got a large job to do.
2. Charging
You’ll be having to do this regularly so you should look for a machine which is easy to re-charge. Perhaps you can remove the battery easily and bring it inside or via another method. Whatever it is, make sure it’s easy to do so you don’t dread doing it.
Top Tip: Keep the charging unit where you keep the machine so you charge after each use.
3. Features
These mowers are not cheap so you want to make sure you are getting excellent features for your money. Just remember what you need and make sure you get those features.
Note: Instant charging or rapid charging batteries are great in theory but they can cost a lot more when really you probably don’t need it and it’s a little gimmicky. Look for only the features that you think are essential and within your price range.
