What Users Say
Gardeners who wanted a petrol grass trimmer for extra power or larger jobs quickly turned to this model because of its relatively low price, high power and extra blades for cutting different terrain. Those people have not been disappointed by the quality of cut and performance that this Timber Pro machine offers.
Some have commented that the trimmer is a little heavy on fuel, but that is to be expected in some ways because it’s a 52cc engine which has good power for the tougher areas of the garden. It also requires enough power to use the brush cutters effectively on harder growth areas so you need the power.
Most people found it easy to assemble although they say that the instructions were poor and it required a little creativity to understand exactly where each part went and how it was assembled properly. One particular area of note was that the petrol to oil ration should be 1/40 – 1 part oil to 40 parts petrol, and not the 1 to 25 as it stated on one of the measuring apparatus inside the kit.
Advantages
- Powerful engine
- Relatively cheap and good value for money
- Strimmer and brush cutting attachments cater for a range of jobs
- Comfortable, adjustable shoulder straps
Disadvantages
- Uses a lot of petrol
- Instructions can be a little ambiguous
What We Say
A petrol grass trimmer is ideal if you are looking for total freedom, extended use and power from your trimmer.
This Timber Pro model delivers on all of those fronts. It’s 52cc, 2 stroke petrol engine provides more than enough power to tackle even the most stubborn of undergrowth and when you combine it with the brush cutting attachment you can get through almost anything.
It comes equipped with 4 different heads:
- Strimmer cord
- 3 tooth brush cutter
- 8 tooth brush cutter
- 40 tooth brush cutter
Each of these attachments allows you the freedom to tackle a range of different environments with relative ease and confidence that you have the right tools for the job.
What’s the build quality like…?
Being on the cheaper end of the market you wouldn’t expect everything to be of top notch quality, and it isn’t, but it certainly does a good job and feels sturdy and reliable in your hands and when in use.
The instruction manual is certainly not that great but it’s not that complicated to put together. The only point we would make is that you should record a video or take some photos of how the line sits inside of the feeder so that when you replace it you can easily put it back the way it was as it can be a little fiddly.
The bottom line…
Overall this machine is a great piece of kit for the price and will do a great job in your garden, whether you are an infrequent gardener or a professional. Sure, it’s not up to the same standard as a professional model but it doesn’t carry that price tag either so it’s up to you to decide what you want to go for.
Is it Right for you?
It’s ideal for those who have larger gardens and/or harder areas to tackle, perhaps some thick brush or overgrown areas. The multiple headed attachments mean that you can tackle a range of tasks with ease. It’s a little noisy so suitable mainly for larger open areas without too many neighbours in close proximity.
