The new GTech work light, which I would call a torch, has been released.
But is it a shining beacon or a little dim…?
In this independent and critical review I’ll be turning the spot light back on itself!
The work light is pitched as more than just a torch for a few reasons…
- It has 3 modes depending how you want to use it
- It can be used for up to 8 hours on one charge
- It’s easy to carry, stand or hang on the wall
We’ll dive into the details of each of these in just a moment, but first let’s take a look at the key features:
- Lightweight, only 970g!
- Reputable British brand
Easy to Use
- Water resistant
- Cordless and convenient
- Highly rated products and service
- 1 year guarantee as standard
- Durable 22v, Lithium-ion battery
- 8 hours use from 4 hour charge
Considerations when Buying from GTech
GTech are a British company with a fantastic history of creating 1st class products. They currently have over 10,000 Google reviews with an average of 4.8 out of 5. So I think they can be trusted…
Risk Free: G-Tech are so confident in their product, they offer a 30 day 100% money back guarantee if you buy direct from them.
Meaning no risk to you if you don’t like the work light. Make sure you go direct, rather than through a re-seller.
In my opinion…
Released in 2017, the work light is a somewhat odd addition to GTech’s range of cordless electric tools in my opinion.
Get what you pay for…
It’s not cheap, but it is a good piece of kit. You get what you pay for…It’s versatile and long lasting. Very lightweight and is easy to use.
If you’re out and about, walking the dog, camping or even having a BBQ in the British summer…Chances are you’ll encounter some rain.
Being water resistant is reassuring that you don’t have to worry too much.
Water resistant means you can get it wet out in the rain but can’t drop it in water.
A versatile torch…
The GTech work light has been designed for those times when you need light in awkward situations.
When you’re in the loft, searching the shed or looking for a lost contact lens in the garden…
You can hang it up on a branch or hook. Sit it down and angle it on the stand to suit your position and change the beam to illuminate a large area or direct the light in a beam.
If you have one of them, the unit is only £49.99 without a charger and battery.
It will last for 8 hours from a 4 hour charge, which seems reasonable. Ideal for an weekend camping experience.
What users are saying…
Being a brand new product, the feedback is limited. However, those who have used it find it really useful.
Being so lightweight and having an interchangeable battery with the handy GTech multi really helps.
And that’s our opinion, too…If you have a Multi, this is an excellent buy. Just £49.99 will get you a very useful light for the shed, garden, kids camping trips, summer BBQs or walking the dog.
The light it emits is powerful, bright and versatile for many situations.

So, What’s the Downside?
Having said all that, the downside is that it is still fairly expensive for a torch. You can buy cheaper ones online very easily.
But they don’t come with such versatility, especially if you are looking to get a handheld vacuum like the Multi, too.
- 3 beam modes
- Use GTech Multi battery & charger
- Long lasting – up to 8 hours
- Water resistant
- Relatively expensive
The bottom line…
If you frequently require a torch or can see having a night light come in handy, this is a good choice especially if you have the GTech Multi already or are thinking of getting it.
However, if you only use one rarely you’re probably better off with a cheaper alternative from Amazon.
