The Bosch ALS 2500 Leaf Blower and Vacuum.

As any homeowner knows, maintaining a healthy garden requires getting rid of fallen leaves before they rot and turn into mush.

Bosch claim to have the right tool you need: the ALS 2500 electric leaf blower and vacuum. But will it make disposing of stuck and wet leaves easier?

Consisting of a blow vacuum unit, collecting bag, operating instructions, 2 x vacuum nozzles and a blow nozzle, the Bosch ALS 2500 Electric Garden Blower/ Vacuum is a powerful garden vacuum that may be used to clean the many areas such as patios, lawns and driveways.

This piece of equipment has two main modes:

1. Vacuum
2. Blower

The various parts of the equipment may also be disassembled for easy storage. After disabling the unit, the parts should be zipped into the collecting bag to keep them tidy and compact. Here is a review of this product.

The Design

Unlike similar tools that include a very short cable, this one has a large 10-meter cord that will be enough for working in a small garden. One thing to keep in mind is that it is made of plastic that seems to get stiff and lose its flexibility in cold weather.

Switching from vacuuming to blowing modes and vice versa is done by replacing a tube and takes a very short time.

To distribute the weight, a padded shoulder strap and an adjustable handle are included and provide additional comfort.

Once the job is finished, disassemble the blower parts and zip them into the collection bag to reduce the size to 45 cm long for compact storage.

Large Collection Bag

You can work for quite some time before the bag is filled up. Its 45-litre capacity can collect wet and sticky leaves with minimal effort.

You don’t have to worry about getting the bag wet since it is made from a waterproof material.

Excellent Performance

Powered by a 2500 W motor, and with an 800 m3/h volume flow rate, no task is too big for this machine.

You can control the blower speed and crank it up to 300 km/h to remove those leaves that stick to the patio floor.

A Shredding Function Is Included

All the debris you suck into the vacuum gets shredded before it is collected in the bag.

The 10:1 shredding ratio allows you to turn a big pile of leaves and foliage into a small pile of compost-ready material.

Overload protection

One common problem with electric power tools is that they can overload the motor, causing it to burn out.

Bosch has fitted the ALS 2500 with a safety overload protection. If it detects that the operating temperature has reached extreme levels it will automatically shut off the motor until it cools down.

Blowing Performance

The first step to cleaning your garden is to pile up the leaves. This is made easier thanks to the blower nozzle that has an opening bent upwards slightly, so you can get a better angle when holding the machine in a downward position

The variable speed helps to achieve the right amount of air for less demanding jobs or while working on areas with gravel or delicate vegetation. This is done by using a dial located on the top edge of the handle.

Vacuum Performance

Bosch’s designers made it simple to unload the bag once it gets full. There is a zip that sits on the back edge, so it is possible to empty it without even having to move the bag around.

For great manoeuvring, the second handle comes in pretty handy while vacuuming, giving you more control of where you are pointing the nozzle.
