About the Company
Makita is a Japanese company that manufactures power tools. It was founded back in 1915, in Japan, and now has factories in Japan, the United Kingdom, Canada, Brazil, China, Mexico, Germany, Romania and the U.S.
In 1969 Makita was the first company to introduce the first ever rechargeable wireless power tool.
They have a range of tools from compact and lightweight to Premium Tools which are designed specifically for professional users and demanding applications.
Makita DTM50Z Features
The Makita DTM50Z is a sturdy and versatile tool with a hex wrench holder which makes blade changes very easy. It has a well-positioned on/off switch, an anti-restart function for safety and a good barrel grip that fits hands of all sizes.
It has a 3.2° oscillation angle, a built in LED light, speed control and a very soft start.
Accessories
The Makita DTM50Z accepts OIS Makita, Bosch and Fein accessories, which includes Starlock as well.
The batteries and other accessories are NOT included. You can buy them separately, such as these ones from Saxton on Amazon.
These are not the only ones, there are plenty of available options to buy online.
The key question to ask is, what’s your intended use. I would recommend buying higher rather than lower quality tools to do a better job.
Intended Use
The tool is intended for cutting and sawing wood, gypsum, plastic, fastening elements (e.g. unhardened staples and nails) and non-ferrous metals. You can also use it for trimming, sawing, polishing, grinding, dry sanding and scraping of small surfaces.
It is quite suitable for flush cutting and working close to edges.
Due the high number of tool attachments, it really can do a wide range of tasks depending on what you want to use it for. A true multi-tool!
