This is the second Flymo that we have added to our electric mowers range and that’s because Flymo do deliver a great product. It’s not for everyone, but those who like how it works, feels and understand its limitations are Flymo buyers for life. What you get for your money is an affordable, electric lawn mower which is easy to push because of the hover technology which is lightweight, compact and performs well. Here are some of the features it has:
- 1450 watt power
- Ideal for small to medium gardens with a 33cm cutting blade
- Adjustable cutting heights from 12-32mm
- 26 litre grass collection box
What Users Say
Users are very happy with the cut from this 33cm metal blade which hovers above the ground at a fully adjustable height, from a very low 12mm to a more comfortable 32mm. The machine is easy to manoeuvre because it is both lightweight and floats above the ground using a hover technology which Flymo are renowned for.
One criticism that keeps coming up is the inability for the mower to collect all of the grass cuttings which makes a mess of the surrounding area and the person cutting the lawn and that it only works truly well if you have a very flat lawn with minimal obstacles in the way.
Advantages
- Lightweight
- Easy to manoeuvre
- Storage space required is small
Disadvantages
- You have to remove the blade with tools in order to adjust the cutting height
- Grass cuttings get blown around and not into the grass collection box
What We Say
Our knowledge of Flymo means that we understand what you are getting for your money with many of their products. It’s a no frills, relatively cheap mower which is built for the mass market to get your grass cut efficiently and quickly. It’s not a mower that is going to leave your lawn looking like a tennis court or a bowling green, and that is reflected in the price.
The problem with the hover system is that you are effectively blowing a load of air around where the grass is being cut so it’s inevitable that cuttings will be blown around. If you are really bothered by this, don’t buy a Flymo. Instead, look at one of our other models in the best mower reviews section of our site.
On a positive note, the mower is lightweight, easy to move around the garden and can cut the grass well. If you have a small to medium sized piece of grass and a few clippings around the garden don’t worry you, this reasonably priced model will do a good job and last a reasonable amount of time if you treat it well and keep it clean.
Is it Right for you?
If you’re looking for a basic electric lawn mower that will work straight out of the box, cut your grass pretty well and require very little maintenance over the years this is a great purchase. If you want a nicer finish to your lawn and don’t want grass cuttings blown around at all, I would recommend going for the Bosch model that we have also reviewed in this electric mowers range as that’s a much better mower but it will cost a little more.
