The 37V battery produces more power

Enhanced Battery

In other models, such as the GTech Pro 2, the battery was a 22 Volt one. With the AirFOX, it’s now got a 37 Volt one. So you’re getting a significant amount more power delivery. One downside is that it takes longer to charge, but the difference is only from 4 to 5 hours. Most people aren’t going to notice the extra hour required so it’s not really an issue as I see it.

The power output now is around 450 Watts which is pretty powerful. But do you need more power?

The truth is, power doesn’t equate to pick-up…Meaning, just because you have more power output, it doesn’t mean the vacuum will suck up more dust from your floors. It depends on a lot of other factors, too. Obviously power is one, but so is efficiency of the machine, how it’s been designed, etc.

Back in 2017 there was a ban on vacuum cleaners being over 900 Watts.

From personal use, it certainly feels more powerful when using it compared to the GTech Pro 2 which I use almost daily. You can clearly see the amount of dust and debris that it picks up from carpets inside of the bagless cylinder. Granted, it’s not possible to see inside the bag of the GTech Pro 2 but when I empty it out there doesn’t appear to be the same level of dust from relatively clean carpets.

3 Power Modes = 80 Min Run Time

The AirFOX has three modes

1. Eco
2. Auto
3. Max

You have 3 different running modes

Eco –  As is implied by the name, should be the most economical in terms of power usage so will last the longest. If you have mainly hard floors and nothing too major to pick-up then this mode should be sufficient for most of your needs

Auto –  This mode will automatically adjust the suction power based on what the machine thinks it needs. If you are going on carpet, the suction and power will increase. On hard floors, it will be lower. This is the middle ground setting for using as much as is needed. You’ll get less runtime, but the power will boost when required for those harder parts to clean.

Max – If you have some stubborn hair or dust squashed into your carpet or chair, this mode can help you. It’s also good when you have dust and debris sitting awkwardly down behind a radiator pipe or in a crack which won’t come out on the lower power setting modes. As you’d expect, the battery will not last anywhere near as long in this mode. They say around 15 minutes from a full charge.

Bags, Accessories & Looks…

This particular model is a bagless machine, so no need to worry about bag replacements. It’s easy to empty the cylinder out, but also clean the filters. Check out the video below on exactly how to do that.

In terms of accessories, you get a whole host of them with this machine. Apart from the kind of obvious and ubiquitous crevice tool and upholstery head, there are two key ones I’d like to mention.

1 – Powered Brush Head

This is a really handy extra head that is perfect for cleaning the stairs and your car seats. It has a powered brush bar, just like the main head unit but it’s smaller so easy to use on smaller items and in smaller spaces.

You can attach it straight onto the main unit itself, too, so it’s nice and easy to use. Check out the main video at the top of the page so you can see how to attach it and how it compares in size to the main head unit.

2 – Flexible Hose

Sometimes you find you need to get into harder to each places with the crevice tool, like down the sides of sofas or your car seats. That’s where the flexible hose comes in. What makes it nice is that the hose is super lightweight so you’re not having to try and hold 3kg above your head. You can easily place the vacuum down and then extend the hose into the place you need to get to.

What are People Saying…?

Overall, people are very pleased with the AirFOX so far, achieving a rating of 4.5 stars out of 5 on GTech.co.uk.

Features people love are how quiet it is and that it’s very easy very portable. The build quality is also noted by some users, especially those who were previous GTech AirRam purchasers.

What’s the Downside…?

One downside noted is how it’s not the best to balance it when not in use. The battery, waste cylinder and main unit are sitting right at the top so leaning it against the wall it very easily can slide down. I mention this in my video. To be honest, it’s the same story with some of the other machines such as the GTech Pro 2 which I also have. I’ve lost count the number of times that the machine has slipped down after standing it up against something.

Now, I don’t lean it against the wall. I put it down on the floor, sofa, bed or lean it right over against a chair so it can’t fall down.

Is it Suitable for You..?

If you’re looking for a vacuum cleaner which works well on both hard floors and carpets, this is a good choice. It looks good, it’s compact and portable. You don’t need to plug it in anywhere, and you can adjust the power so it runs for a long time or goes all out for maximum cleaning effectiveness with a shorter run time.

If you have a massive house, you might run out of charge before you’ve finished vacuuming but for most of us it’s more than adequate to finish the whole house or apartment. The key thing to remember is to get it charged between uses. You have the handy digital display which shows you how much charge you have left so it’s easy to know when you need to plug it in.

Alternatives Options

GTech have a full range of options available, such as the GTech Pro 2 or the GTech Pro 2 K9 (specifically designed for those with pets).

A particular point of concern with the GTech Multi Platinum Vacuum Cleaner is that it is not automatically self-propelled. You need to exert yourself moving it around your preferred spaces for cleaning. However, this downside is effectively countered by the manufacturer who made it 1.5kgs light for ease.

Is it Suitable for You..?

The suitability of this vacuum cleaner is entirely dependent on your cleaning needs within your residence.

If you have a car that needs vacuum cleaning, this model is a no brainer for you with the specifications that reach unreachable dust and dirt particles.

All things considered, the GTech Multi Platinum Vacuum Cleaner is a very good option if you are looking for a vacuum cleaner. We rate it highly because it has a long use time, reinforced aluminium design, and a powered brush head.

Extra features such as the scented cartridge, the crevice tools, and the LED headlight increase the convenience of this vacuum when you use it.

It takes minimal effort to move around with this device due to its light weight, making your cleaning experience non-strenuous.

Due to the vacuum’s size, the suction is powerful enough to remove dust from surfaces, but it is not powerful enough for deep cleaning. Apart from the suction strength, the vacuum does not have any major flaws.

Is it Suitable for You..?

If you want a lightweight stick vacuum for light jobs around the house, then the VYTRONIX Cordless Vacuum Cleaner is suitable. It is also affordable and therefore suitable for those on a tight budget but need a reliable vacuum. It may not offer as powerful suction as the larger models, but for its size, it still performs well.

Alternatives Options

An alternative would be the GTech Pro 2 K9 Corldess Vacuum Cleaner or if you want an even lighter model, check out the GTech ProLite, which is arguably the lightest thing out there at a mere 0.97kg.

The bottom line…

The VYTRONIX Cordless Vacuum Cleaner provides good value for money considering the features offered. You can easily dismantle it and take it anywhere because it is not tied down with a cord.

What’s the Downside…?

Negative reviews are very rare for this vacuum, but it seems like a few people have had some issues with the Anti Hair Wrap feature. Longer, human hair would sometimes get stuck and had to be removed manually. Although it wasn’t nearly as bad as with other vacuums, it still presented an issue with this user.

Whilst the anti hair wrap does work for my pets, I’ve had to remove my own, bum length hair from it, which I did expect I guess but I so wanted it not to. This was nowhere near as tight or entwined like other vacuum floor nozzles though but it’s still a pain, as I know my hair gets everywhere! – Nikki

How Does the HyLite 2 Compare to The Original Version?

First off, the most obvious difference is one of aesthetics – the colour of the main unit. The HyLite featured a green colour, whereas the new Hylite 2 version has a more minimalistic look with silver colour and green accents.

But more importantly, there’s a difference in the performance as well. The Gtech HyLite 2 has much better suction power and lifts dirt and dust easier than the first model.

This is mainly due to the fact that the powered brush head now features Gtech’s unique AirLOC technology, which they have a pending patent for.

Use the duster at the same time as vacuuming

This technology ensures all debris is picked up when you push forward, while all the fine dust and dirt is picked up on the back stroke. 

In addition, the bristles on the rotating brush are made from a firmer material and brush the carpet pile much better, removing any dirt that’s deeply embedded. 

Oh, and finally, the Gtech HyLite 2 comes with a detachable duster so you can reach into high corners or difficult spots and pick up cobwebs and dust with ease.

Yes, you read that right! Imagine you have just a large bag of sugar in your hands it’s that light.

We’re seeing a resurgence of bags in cordless vacuums lately (I’m thinking the popular GTech Pro 2 K9) and it’s for a good reason. They are very easy to use and maintain and act as a filter that is replaced every time you replace the bag. 

Bag replacements used to be expensive back in the day, but now, G Tech offers a pack of 15 bags for only £12.99.

This should last you for a year or two, based on GTech’s internal simulation tests and research that showed that the average user goes through 7 bags per year.

But let’s talk more about the bag itself. It has a capacity of 0.3 litres, but it can actually hold up to 3 times its volume. That’s because the vacuum’s airflow compresses the dust and debris inside, ensuring more space is available.

Each bag contains 3 robust and rip-resistant layers that trap even the finest dust in there. Let’s see how this works in action:

The Gtech HyLite 2 comes equipped with a 14.4V Lithium-ion battery. It takes around two hours to get a full charge, and with it, you can get around 20 minutes of run time. 

There’s also a battery indicator on top of the battery so you always know how much power you have left.

Once you’re all out of battery, you can use the charger to charge it both off and on the main vacuum unit. This means you no longer have to remove the battery and charge it separately. Truly designed with ease of use in mind.

On that same note, I can’t go without mentioning all the clever design features that are evident throughout the vacuum cleaner. 

First off, the fact that everything is fitted into the main unit is an achievement all in itself. From there, the telescopic handle has a very compact size when retracted, and you can store all the parts together in a kitchen drawer.

Other key design features include the LED lights at the front of the power head for increased visibility of dirt and dust, the ease of replacing the bags rather than washing bins and filters, and the included hair removal tool for easy brush cleaning.

There haven’t been any complaints of the HyLite 2 so far, but one user pointed out a small design flaw in the main unit. The air outlet is facing forwards, so when air is expelled it can blow fine dust away from the vacuum. Luckily, this didn’t present any big problems and the cleaning performance was still excellent.

When you first receive the Vax Platinum Power Max, it needs slight assembly before you start using it. The instruction manual is pretty clear with outlined steps in detail.

Once you assemble it, it’s slightly bigger than your average upright vacuum cleaner, at 111cm in height and 39cm in width.

But still, it’s quite easy to move around and clean your carpets with, thanks to the clever design and two water compartments, which I’ll talk about more later. For now, let’s see the basics of how this carpet cleaner works.

How it Works?

Vax Platinum Power Max cleans by distributing a cleaning solution into your carpet fibres and sucks out all the dirty residue with strong suction.

You put the cleaning solution and warm water in the two chambers at the top, and then use one of the three modes to go over your carpets: quick clean, deep clean, and rinse.

Quick clean is best suited for the majority of cleaning jobs, while deep clean is for especially dirty carpets. The rinse function, on the other hand, is if you want to try and get out any left over residue or cleaning solution.

The wastewater is then collected into a separate chamber at the bottom, which is very easy to remove and empty out.

At first glance, the Pro and Pro 2 models look very similar, with the battery, motor, and the bag all below the handle, connected to the suction head via the extension tube.

And while there are plenty of other similarities, like the 4 hour charge time and 40 minutes run time, there are some important areas where the new model outshines the first one.

Let’s check them out.

• Double extension tube – the extension tube on the first model was one unit, whereas there are two separate units on the Pro 2. This allows you more flexibility in choosing your length. So, for example, you’d use just one tube for vacuuming the car or use the double for reaching down below larger sofas.
• Larger powered brush head – this ensures you can vacuum your entire home much faster as you’ll cover more area with every sweep. The brush bar can be easily taken off to properly clean it from tangled hair.
• Picks up larger debris much more easily – in my previous review of the first model, I mentioned the big problem with the Gtech Pro, which is that it doesn’t pick up larger debris all that much. Luckily, the Pro 2 does a much better job even with one simple sweep.
• Sturdier design – straight out of the box, you can feel that the design is much more thought of in this model, and the whole vacuum feels much better as a whole.

Now that the comparison is out of the way, let’s take a look at all the other features of the Gtech Pro 2.

Let’s start by looking at the key features at a glance:

Large dirt capacity

Triple layered, hygienic, 1.5L bags as standard

So far, the main drawback of cordless vacuums was the small tank capacity, which meant you have to empty it often.

However, with the new bag design, G Tech have managed to increase the capacity to 1.5L.

So, you can finally finish up vacuuming your entire house without having to stop midway through to empty the tank.

And, furthermore, the filter bags are triple-layered, and that makes for a much more hygienic vacuuming.

AirLOC technology

You can take it anywhere…

The powered brush head I talked about earlier features Gtech’s unique AirLOC technology, which was designed to pick up at two stages.

First, when you vacuum forwards, it picks up larger debris, and then when you go backward, it sucks up all fine dirt, dust, and embedded hair.

If any hair builds up in the powered brush, which should be unlikely thanks to the clever design of the brush, you can easily cut it off with the hair removal tool that comes with the unit.

Versatility

The Gtech Pro 2 comes with lots of accessories and attachments, which all add up to provide 11 different cleaning modes. Each of them offers a different cleaning performance and manoeuvrability, so you can easily reach all areas in your home that need vacuuming.

You can use the handheld model with the brush head to clean upholstery and stairs, with the dusting brush for vacuuming tricky shelves, and the crevice tool for reaching under your car seats. Truly amazing versatility!

Long run time

Long lasting battery and easy to charge

Recent advancements in lithium-ion technology have ensured all newer cordless vacuums can run for much longer, and the Gtech Pro 2 is no exception.

With a 22V lithium-ion battery, the Pro 2 has a run time of 40 minutes on Eco mode, and 20 minutes on Max mode.

To monitor the battery level, there’s a LED indicator with 4 strips showing how much charge is left.

You can charge the battery either directly on the machine or by taking it off very simply, so you can store the vacuum while the battery charges.

What’s the Downside…?

It seems that some people with pets have had some problems with the suction power and the bag capacity.

There are a few reports of the Gtech Pro 2 not picking up every pet hair from carpets, as well as some complaints about the bag filling up after every vacuuming.

However, they were satisfied with the performance and repurposed the vacuum for other areas, and used a stronger vacuum for pet hair.

Great machine and it’s effective, but for a house with dogs the bag fills far too quickly, and not even all the pet hair is picked up. At the rate we are using them I think it will sit in the cupboard most of the time or we’ll have to use it in other areas.- Steve

Is it Suitable for You..?

In comparison to Gtech’s first model, it’s got plenty of similar features, but has an overall better build and design, and improves in all the areas the first model was lacking. I’m talking about the better suction power for larger debris and the double extension tube.
