What it’s suitable for
The Greenworks Cordless Hedge Trimmer can be used for a variety of different tasks.
It’s excellent for trimming a large number of small shrubs such as boxwood and spirea, as well as making first pruning passes at larger shrubs.
However, this trimmer shines the most at plants with low moisture content and small to medium branches, such as asparagus, aster, coneflower and many other perennials.
What are People Saying…?
People love that they no longer have to go through the fuss and difficulties of tangling with cords or carrying a heavy trimmer around their garden.
What’s even more important, their hedges seem to look more beautiful than ever.
This one does the job admirably. I like the fact that you can twist the body of the unit to make it easier to use when cutting the side of the hedge. As is the case with all of their items, the battery life is excellent and managed to do 2.20 metre hedges both sides and top, and still have enough life left in the battery to cut the grass with the mower. I would thoroughly recommend this item. – Jayzee
What’s the Downside…?
Finding flaws in the performance of this trimmer is quite difficult, but some people had trouble with the long term reliability of their purchase. However, as the number of these customers is extremely small, it’s most likely just a manufacturing gap.
Unit failed, and completely stopped working after 1 year and two months. Nonetheless, it Worked better than expectation, chopped through my bushes like butter, battery kept on going and held the charge when idle. – SixtiesGuy

We reviewed another Greenworks hedge trimmer, but that was a while ago now so this is definitely a better option.

Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Can this cut 1/2 in. to 1 in. bushes?
A: I’ve cut 1/2 inch thick easily. I think it starts to have difficulty at 1 inch. My experience is limited to only a couple of varieties of woody bushes; I bet that some are sturdier than others depending on the variety of bush involved.
Q: Can this use the GMAX 40V 4 amp battery?
A: Yes. As long as each says GMAX. Battery sizes are interchangeable.
Q: Are you supposed to keep this oiled because mine did good on 1st job but now seems as if blade is dull. We only used to trim privacy bushes.
A: Yes it needs to be oiled with a very light oil like 3 in 1 oil whenever it is dry.
